Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy consists of using several different methods and techniques working together to accomplish my goal of being an intentional teacher. “Observe a skilled teacher at work and you will find it almost impossible to isolate an example of a teaching strategy, even explicit instruction, that doesn’t also include some other strategy such as encouragement, modeling, or questioning” (Bredekamp, 2016, p. 278). Teaching young children, like kindergarteners, requires more than just teaching the curriculum and handing out worksheets. Teaching kindergarten requires fun and engaging material and instruction that integrates the curriculum so that children are engaged, intrigued, and excited to learn. A sprinkle of silliness and laughter certainly help too.
